Just shy of 20 tons, this new modular home built by Ritz Craft Homes in Mifflinburg, PA was put into place Wednesday.
Freddie Gardin and his mother lived in the 17000 block on York Road before their home was
destroyed, and local builders said Gardin will be back in his new home before
the holidays.
The Executive Director of the Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, Sherry Cooper, said it was a beautiful sight to see it all come back together.
"It makes me feel warm and fuzzy," Cooper said. "We help families, and in turn the families help themselves and it betters the neighborhoods. They're so anxious to have Freddie back in his home. I just think it's a heartfelt feeling of everybody that's out here today."
The unique home was the first type of modular home the local builders worked with, and they made it handicap accessible for Gardin.
Corey Green, owner of Corey's Construction and the distributor for Gardin's new home, said modular homes are vastly different today than they were five years ago.
"Everyone thinks it's a square box and you can only get what the manufacture offers; in which case now it's custom, you can design anything you want," Green said.

I had a chance to talk with the home owners today, very nice people and very deserving of their new home.
