Since purchasing Apex Homes in Middleburg, PA out of bankruptcy in August,
President Lynn Kuhns has hired about 24 employees and plans to add another 60
positions in the next three years.
“I feel very confident in the modular home market. As a
whole, our industry is growing. We are increasing production and working
50-hour weeks,” Kuhns said.

Hiring New Sales Reps |
Apex Homes is hiring
in a number of fields, including sales, plumbing, electrical and
transportation.
Kuhns and his team purchased the 166,000-square-foot
facility in early August and will make several improvements, investing more
than $2.6 million.
One of the planned upgrades will be a new heating system
using recycled wood chips to be installed in the next few weeks.
As an incentive, Apex received a funding proposal from the
Department of Community and Economic Development that includes $180,000 in job
creation tax credits.
“We are excited for the opportunity to give our company and
employees a new beginning,” said Kuhns. “It’s been a long process, but it’s
very rewarding. We have a tremendous team of employees who take great pride in
our products, and it’s this personal commitment to building the industry’s best
homes that will move our company forward. We greatly appreciate the efforts
from everyone involved in helping us achieve our goals.”
Bob Garrett, president and CEO of the Greater Susquehanna
Valley Chamber of Commerce, said Apex’s growth is an indication that the
economy is rebounding.
“The modular home industry was the first to get hit when the
economy turned and is the last to come out,” he said. “If you can survive that,
you can survive anything. It says the economy is back, so let’s get to work.”
