Every year modular home builders and factories try to figure out what home buyers will want in their new homes and more importantly, what they are wanting less.

Practical features trump leisure-focused niceties, high energy windows are more popular than two story foyers.

According to a survey by the National Association of Realtors, here are the most asked for options in 2015 and the least asked for.

Don’t be caught trying to push yesterday’s options on today’s savvy new home buyers.

Most asked for options:
  • Walk-in closet
  • Laundry room
  • Low-emission windows
  • Great room
  • Energy Star appliances
  • Energy Star windows
  • Ceiling 1st floor 9'
  • 2-car garage
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Granite countertops

Here are the least asked for options:
  • Laminate countertops
  • Sunroom
  • Two-story family room
  • Media room
  • Two-story foyer
  • Whirlpool tub in master bath
  • Carpeting on main level
